Patriots’ draft picks: Lamar Jackson firmly in play with two first-rounders

If you think the Patriots have had a wild offseason since NFL free agency began, just wait until they’re on the clock in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Gone from the reigning AFC champions are notable names like cornerback Malcolm Butler, left tackle Nate Solder, right tackle Cameron Fleming, running back Dion Lewis and wide receivers Danny Amendola and Brandin Cooks. The notable arrivals so far include cornerback Jason McCourty, wide receivers Jordan Matthews and Cordarrelle Patterson and defensive linemen Danny Shelton and Adrian Clayborn.

After one blockbuster trade last season (Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers) and a the surprise move this offseason (Cooks to the Rams), the Patriots are up to eight draft selections later this month, with half of them coming in the first two rounds.

Another possible scenario for Jacksonville is a trade back. If the Jags are not enamored with any prospects available at No. 29, are fine with having Bortles as the clear starter or have a quarterback-needy team on the line looking to snatch one up, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t entertain that possibility to trade back, rack up a few more picks and help add even more depth.

Outside of finding an inside linebacker and tight end to push for the starting role, the Jaguars should focus their Day 2 (and Day 3) on finding depth. This team didn’t lose much in free agency, and it has built a winner that had a legitimate shot at making the Super Bowl last season. The Jags don’t need to try to hit on starters, so finding solid role players to make this roster that much stronger is the way to go.

Last year, the Bears declined corner Kyle Fuller’s fifth-year option. After making a big leap in 2017, Fuller earned a multiyear deal a season earlier than if Chicago had exercised the option. Fuller was coming off a year-long injury at that time the Bears declined the fifth season. White now hopes to follow in Fuller’s footsteps. Given his meager contributions through three years, the Bears would be thrilled if the wideout just stayed healthy throughout 2018.

With the blast, Didi, who earned AL Player of the Week honors for the period ending April 30th, became the fourth player in team history to club 10 round-trippers in April, joining Graig Nettles (1974), Alex Rodriguez (2007) and Judge (2017). In addition, the clutch round-tripper resulted in his 30th RBI on the season, the third-highest April RBI total in franchise Cheap Official NHL Jerseys history (since RBI became an Cheap Patriots Jerseys official statistic in 1920).

Top QB prospects eye legacy that reaches beyond draft

To no one’s surprise, the four quarterbacks in Dallas this week hogged all the attention at Wednesday’s Play Football event; four six-foot-something man-planets with media-member moons gravitating toward each of them.

Every one of the signal-callers — Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson and Josh Rosen — played coy about where they might end up or when they might jump off the draft board. But they all professed the same message: We’re friends today, but rivals tomorrow.

We rivals. We rivals right now, Jackson said with a straight face, before breaking out a smile. Nah, I’m just playing.

Huge rivalry. Huge rivalry between me and Josh, Darnold ripped sarcastically of Allen, his workout mate for the past three months. We’re great buddies and we’re just rooting for each other. It’s cool knowing we’re going to end up in the right spot no matter what. That’s the them around this whole thing. Wherever we go is going to be the right spot because they want us.

Come Thursday night, the 2018 draft class will move indoors from blustery Arlington into the well-conditioned confines of AT&T Stadium, where at some point these players’ lives will change forever. Until that moment, when they finally go their separate ways toward different organizations and facilities miles away, these four quarterbacks are going to enjoy their time with one another.

One of the most amicable players in the locker room during his time with the team, Burleson started 38 games during his four seasons in Detroit, catching 194 passes for 2,083 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Following his retirement in 2014, Burleson has parlayed his gregarious personality into a broadcasting gig, serving as one of the host for the NFL Network show Good Morning Football.

The Lions are scheduled to select No. 51 in the second round.

Third-round picks are slated to be announced by former Walter Payton Man of the Year nominees, and the Lions will be represented by Stephen Tulloch. He earned the team’s honor four consecutive years, from 2012-15, for his work in the community Best Quality Cheap Jerseys through his Operation 55 foundation.

Tulloch returned to Detroit last season to retire Cheap NFL Jerseys China as a member of the Lions.

NFL owners toughen helmet hit penalty, clarify catch rule

Rich McKay, chair of the league’s competition committee, said NFL research determined that a large number of concussions happen when players lower their heads to make a hit (AFP Photo/Maddie Meyer) More Miami (AFP) – NFL team owners voted Tuesday to make it illegal for players to lower their heads and initiate contact with the helmet and clarified the league’s catch rule, better defining receptions.

A football move was defined as either a third step, reaching for or extending the ball toward the line to gain or the ability to perform such an act. It remains with on-field officials to judge whether a catch has been completed, subject to video review as warranted. Gone is a requirement that a receiver maintain control of the ball throughout the process of going to the ground. Owners also finalized a rule having teams begin play after a touchback from the 25-yard line and allowing NFL senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron would have the authority to eject players during games for egregious non-football acts.

He wants to be paid exactly like Antonio Brown is paid. So the Steelers are saying, ‘Well, we’re going to wait a little while before we address that fully because clearly the Steelers don’t feel that that’s where Bell’s value is. Bell’s contributions in both the running and passing game are somewhat unparalleled. Bell rushed for 1,291 yards with nine touchdowns on the ground, averaging four yards per carry. The all-purpose back also added 85 receptions for 655 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per catch.

Interestingly, this latest report concerning Bell’s contract demands somewhat echo what was believed to be the case as far back as last offseason, before the Steelers placed the franchise tag on the running back, as the team did again just recently. As it stands, a report last weekend stated the Steelers have put negotiations with Bell on hold. While Bell has stated he won’t sit out the 2018 NFL season, he did hint at sitting out through training camp if the franchise tag is not rescinded and a long-term deal is hammered out, what Bell has desired for years. It’s Wholesale Jerseys All safe Hot Cheap Jerseys to assume that Bell’s reported contract demands could throw a wrench at making further progress if talks again resume.

In a continued effort to take hitting with the helmet out of football, the NFL is considering adding a targeting rule.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday that the league’s competition committee is currently formulating language on a targeting rule that could go to a vote as soon as today at the Annual League Meeting in Orlando.

The specifics of how the rule is framed and the penalty for targeted will be key for a potential measure to pass.

Prosecutors explained that van der Zwaan had lied and withheld documents about information that was pertinent to their investigation — that Gates had been in direct contact during the presidential campaign with a person who has ties to a Russian intelligence services and had such ties in 2016.

Kilimnik previously told The Post that he had served for a time in the early 1990s in the Russian army, but he denied intelligence ties.

Manafort has also denied knowingly communicating with Russian intelligence during the campaign. He told the New York Times last year, however, It’s not like these people wear badges that say, ‘I’m a Russian intelligence officer.’

Indianapolis general manager Chris Ballard, whose team got left in the cold by McDaniels, was not in favor of a rule change.

The Titans were in the market for a backup to starter Marcus Mariota after releasing Matt Cassel on March 9. Injuries to Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton allowed Gabbert to make five starts last season with the Arizona Cardinals. The 28-year-old Gabbert finished 95 of 171 for 1,086 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions during that span, posting a 2-3 mark with one of the wins — 12-7 on Dec. 10 — coming at the expense of Tennessee.

A first-round draft pick (No. 10 overall) of Jacksonville in 2011, Gabbert endured three rocky seasons with the Jaguars, going 5-22 as a starter. Gabbert resuscitated his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, starting the final eight games and tossing 10 scoring passes versus seven picks while completing a personal-best 63.1 percent of his passes. Like Mariota, Gabbert Soccer Cheap Jerseys can Ravens Cheap Jerseys be a threat with his legs, rushing for 440 yards in 18 games over the past three seasons.

The league scrapped a proposal to reduce pass interference from a spot foul to an NCAA-style 15-yard penalty.

The newly ratified language also gets rid of the pesky going to the ground language, and it will decriminalize letting the nose of the ball wiggle slightly while securing it, a pair of bugbears that have caused many apparent catches to be overturned for submolecular reasons in recent years.

Tuesday’s 32-0 vote offers real hope that plays that look like catches in real time will have a much higher probability of counting as catches from now on. There will still be controversies, and we will howl and gnash our teeth across the internet at the first bobbled ball that slips through the cracks of the new rules. But when in doubt, the next Dez Bryant catch or Jesse James catch will actually be a highlight to cherish, not Exhibit A in a Monday morning mock trial.

The change was popular in some league and fan circles, but Vincent, a former Pro Bowl cornerback, expressed skepticism about it on Friday.

Professional defensive backs are too skilled and too smart, Vincent said. And you can play the play. You don’t want a defensive back being able to strategically grab a guy. Vincent’s warning of unintended consequences was a likely reason many owners were wary of supporting such an extreme change.

Mara’s comments Tuesday somewhat mirror what he said Sunday at the NFL owners meeting, but he had at least left the door open for the team to deal the three-time Pro Bowler.

I can’t answer that one way or the other, Mara said when asked if Beckham would be with the Giants when the 2018 season kicks off, per ESPN.com’s Kevin Seifert. We’re certainly not shopping him. Again, when you’re coming off a season when you’re 3-13 and played as poorly as we played, I wouldn’t say that anyone is untouchable.

The New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard reported Monday the Los Angeles Rams reached out to the Giants about a potential trade for Beckham. According to Leonard, the Giants want a first-round pick plus additional assets in return if they were ever to move Beckham.

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported Beckham has already talked to two Rams players about going to Los Angeles and signaled he’d be open to the trade.

Whether the Giants trade Beckham or not, his contract Top Cheap Jerseys remains a pressing concern. He’s set to make almost $8.5 million in Super Cheap Jerseys 2018 after New York picked up the fifth-year option in his rookie deal.

Trevone Boykin released by Seahawks after being accused of choking girlfriend

The Seattle Seahawks released quarterback Trevone Boykin on Tuesday, minutes after a Dallas TV station’s report of a domestic violence incident that allegedly occurred last week.

A woman described as Boykin’s girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, told WFAA that an argument last week at Boykin’s home in Mansfield, Texas, became physical after she refused to unlock her phone. Bailey alleged that Boykin choked her and that she woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor after she blacked out.

The story that was reported casts a bad light on the organization and on me, Boykin said in a statement to NFL Network. I want to be clear that the story is false.

This woman has lied about me and it has cost me my job. I know guilt by association is real. This person has fabricated a story and I am suffering the consequences. I will let the legal system run its course and I know I will be vindicated.

Bailey and Boykin were both arrested last March after a car crash in Dallas. Bailey faced two charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury after she accelerated in reverse and struck seven pedestrians before crashing into the side of a bar, according to the Dallas Police Department. Boykin, who was a passenger, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and public intoxication.

Boykin, 24, spent last season on the Seahawks’ practice squad after serving as a backup in 2016.

Under new general manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur, the Giants entered the offseason with a renewed focus on repairing their damaged offensive line and shockingly thin linebacker corps. It didn’t take very long for them to address both areas. They were able to acquire veteran linebacker Alec Ogletree from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two late-round draft picks, and later added left tackle Nate Solder on a four-year, $62 million deal that made him the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL. Although the collective cost for the two players seems extensive on the surface, Gettleman & Co. did what they had to do in order to shore up two extremely weak areas.

Patriots trade for DT Danny Shelton, CB Jason McCourty The New England Patriots had an obvious problem on the defensive side of the ball in 2017, and Matt Patricia leaving to coach the Detroit Lions certainly added to lingering concerns as the new league year opened. But Bill Belichick and the Patriots promptly shored up some weaker areas by acquiring quality talent by whatever means necessary. In two separate trades with the Cleveland Browns, the Patriots were able to land defensive tackle Danny Shelton and cornerback Pittsburgh Steelers Cheap Jerseys Jason McCourty, who Really Cheap Jerseys will be paired with his twin brother, Devin.

Mike Zimmer: Vikings medical staff more worried by Teddy Bridgewater’s knee than I was

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said, though he personally felt optimistic about the long-term health of Teddy Bridgewater’s knee, the team’s medical staff was concerned about the quarterback’s long-term future in the NFL.

Well, I thought he was doing good in practice. The reports I’d get back from the medical people weren’t as positive as I was, Zimmer said Tuesday at the NFL annual meetings.

The Vikings reset their quarterback position in free agency, signing Kirk Cousins and trading for Trevor Siemian. Bridgewater, Keenum and Bradford all signed elsewhere.

I mean, everything (Bridgewater) does, he overcomes, Zimmer said. He’s a great competitor. A great kid.

I mean, for him to come back from the injury he had was significant. Really, it was remarkable, for the amount of time. No one in the history of the world has come back from the injury he had in that amount of time.

The Vikings gathered information about athletes from all sports who suffered an injury similar to Bridgewater’s. According to their medical staff’s analysis, Zimmer said 24 total cases were recorded, and half of those athletes never competed again.

It was doubtful, Zimmer said of the initial medical prognosis that Bridgewater would be able to play again.

But I think the part about knowing who the kid was made it a little bit better.

Trevone Boykin was accused of viciously beating his girlfriend last Tuesday. It wasn’t until this Tuesday — a day after the victim went on Dallas’s WFAA-TV to tell her story — that the Seahawks released him, although they reportedly knew of the investigation into the incident soon after it happened. The NFL might never get a grip, collectively or with each team, on how to deal with players in these situations. The way the Seahawks handled this one doesn’t create much confidence. Until this, Boykin was the only backup for Russell Wilson under contract. Until this, they were ready to ride with him.

They lost Paul Richardson in free agency. They traded Bennett and released Sherman. They have entertained trading Thomas. And NHL Jerseys China they used the anybody but Kaepernick strategy of backing up the most valuable, and vulnerable, player on Orioles Cheap Jerseys their roster.

Diamondbacks go for sweep over visiting Dodgers

The Arizona Diamondbacks challenged the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West last season because their rotation had Dodgers-like success, and the D-backs are working on a reprise this season.

Descalso made his second start of the season at second base when Ketel Marte moved to shortstop to give Nick Ahmed a day off. Ahmed entered tied for the NL lead with seven RBI.

We set the tone last year, Peralta said. Everybody knows what kind of team we are. It’s not about one person. We have a team approach. That’s what we do.

Corbin is 3-9 with a 4.42 ERA in 16 appearances (14 starts) in his career against the Dodgers. He was 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA in two starts against them in 2017.

Wood, who gave up only one hit in eight scoreless innings in his season debut against San Francisco on Friday, is 5-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 12 career appearances (eight starts) against Arizona. He was 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA in three starts against the Diamondbacks Cheap Quality Soccer Jerseys in 2017, striking out 23 in 21 innings. Wood was 16-3 last year.

Since the two-way phenom signed with the Los Angeles Angels in December, his cards and other autographed Cheap Replica Soccer Jerseys items have been highly coveted throughout the sports collectible industry.

This particular card was signed by the Japanese star in red ink, making it the rarer of two parallel groups of Ohtani autographs found within the set. Only 69 of this variation were produced, each one numbered individually. What makes Neshek’s lucky haul extra special is that it’s the first one in the group that the pitcher/slugger signed, numbered 01/69.

Neshek often solicits autographs from teammates and opponents to add to his robust memorabilia collection. When he discovered the Ohtani card, though, he got a little flustered and accidentally placed it upside down in a protective case.

Noticed how excited I was and put this in upside down … brutal, he tweeted.

Every NFL Team’s Smartest Offseason Decision so Far

The start of free agency brought a flurry of previously agreed to deals and surprise transactions across the NFL. There were unexpected trades and failed free-agent plans, forcing teams to pivot to other strategies. Now that the first wave of talent is mostly off the board, it’s a good time to look at every team’s smartest free-agency decision so far.

For many squads, it was simply signing one player or solidifying one position group. But others executed entire philosophies perfectly, and those bold decisions were especially noteworthy. With $1.5 billion spent on free-agent contracts, there were plenty of acquisitions to choose from.

If the Cardinals had more cap flexibility to improve their roster, a clear rebuilding plan would make more sense, but they don’t. It’s a veteran-laden team that disappointed as injuries took hold in 2017. Bradford offers leadership, a starter’s skill set and time for a team that needs to remake a roster that was a Super Bowl contender just a few years ago.

The Falcons didn’t make other notable moves, mainly because of their cap situation. With just $5.2 million available, they’d Grade Cheap Jerseys need to restructure contracts to open breathing room for more acquisitions. While this offseason is tight, the Houston Texans Cheap Jerseys team will have flexibility in future years.

Things changed quickly for the Baltimore Ravens, who pivoted from massively overpaying wide receiver Ryan Grant to acquiring a quality veteran receiver in Michael Crabtree. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Grant failed his physical after agreeing to a $29 million deal. There were theories that the Ravens reneged after Crabtree’s release, but regardless of the process, they did well to land their best receiver in years.

Pugh started each of the 63 games he played in during his five seasons with the Giants.

It’s my first time going through this process. It’s quite an experience. You lose sleep and your agent is calling you every five minutes. But it worked out and I’m happy to be a Jet.” On Friday, he posted a note on Instagram signaling his arrival to the Big Apple: ”Landing Soon NYC! (hash)JetWay.” The accompanying photo featured Johnson with the left side of his body in a Rams uniform and the Los Angeles skyline in the background, with the right side in a Jets uniform with the New York City skyline behind him.

In fact, on the Draft Trade Value Chart that some teams use (not religiously), Washington gave up 5,490 points of draft-pick value acquired 2,600. But that was the price they had to pay to move up for Robert Griffin III. Griffin, of course, was a bust. So you’d think the Rams killed Washington on the trade. But with the trade of linebacker Alec Ogletree to the Giants this month, the Rams have nothing left from the mega-trade with Washington. They made terrible use of the picks. If possible, considering so many dashed hopes, this was a trade that hurt both teams.

Pugh joins on a five-year contract worth over $45 million, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports, citing sources.

The veteran lineman can play either tackle, guard, or center, giving the Cardinals greater positional versatility on their offensive line.

That’s why it’s folly to say the Jets overpaid. What New York has done, in the wake of losing Kirk Cousins to the Vikings in last week’s free-agency derby, is settle for its second-best Extremely Cheap Jerseys quarterback option. The Jets have Football Cheap Jerseys assured themselves of one of the top four passers in the draft—either Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen or Josh Allen. My money’s on Mayfield, who could go from the pride of Norman to Broadway Baker.
