Texans owner Bob McNair was on hand while the team practiced in West Virginia, and he noticed one person was noticeably absent.
Left tackle Duane Brown didn’t report to camp because he is holding out for a new contract, which didn’t seem to sit well with McNair.
Shepard appeared to be in obvious pain when the injury occurred during one-on-one drills between receivers and cornerbacks, the New York Daily News reported.
ESPN.com reported that Shepard, 24, was looked at on [the] sideline and was apparently in tears.
The second-year wideout, expected to start this season as part of a formidable New York receiving corps with Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall, appeared to be injured without contact.
As a rookie last year, Shepard had 65 receptions for 683 yards and eight touchdowns, playing in all 16 games. He added four more catches for 63 yards in New York’s playoff loss to the Packers.
He helped make the whip popular in his first two seasons as one of his go-to celebrations. One time he even timed a penalty flag toss so well it went perfectly with the graphic on the broadcast. That’s the stuff of legend.
This past season, Beckham started getting more creative with his celebrations. He was also randomly dancing all over the field prior to games.
Many of his celebrations came in the form of various Michael Jackson tributes. His rendition of Thriller was well done for a man in full football uniform.
He can also keep it current by dancing to Migos. It doesn’t matter. He’s here for the classics like MJ, and also the latest (and greatest hip-hop group of all time, fight me) in Migos.
